The overall goal of the design is to create a welcoming space that is educational, playful, and works to take away any fear associated with doctors' visits. Large-scale coral sculptures, a wall-length aquarium, and imagery of ocean life work together to create the immersive feeling of being inside a coral reef.
Soothing blue tones with pops of bright colors will create a relaxing yet playful atmosphere and textured fabrics, laminates, and wall details will also create a tactile experience that excites little one's senses. These features encourage the use of imagination and help create a safe space for patients of all ages.
Each patient room has its own animal mural painted in the same style making it easy to separate and identify which room to send each patient to while also helping to create a unique experience for returning patients.
Clerestory windows and skylights with protective films allow for light to enter all major rooms without sacrificing patient privacy.
